Guinea pig veterinarian in Nashville

Guinea pigs hide illness until they are quite sick. A pig that is eating less, losing weight, drooling, or making a wet chin needs to be seen sooner rather than later. Call Priest Lake Veterinary Hospital at (615) 361-4646. The clinic is at 2445 Morris Gentry Blvd, Nashville, TN 37013.

Common reasons guinea pigs are referred

• Dental disease, including cheek teeth and roots that need imaging under anesthesia
• Weight loss or a selective appetite, especially less hay
• Urinary strain or blood in the urine
• Skin, ovarian, or other problems that have not responded to first-line care

Dr. Kopp holds the ABVP specialty title in Exotic Companion Mammal Practice and is the only veterinarian currently practicing in Tennessee with that title. Guinea pig surgery includes spay and neuter, dental procedures, and surgery for problems such as bladder stones or ovarian disease when that is the right treatment.

Owners and clinics travel from Nashville, Antioch, Franklin, Brentwood, and Murfreesboro. If you are a veterinarian sending a dental case, this note covers what to include.
